Learning To Feel: In Sickness and In Health

I was watching the Warriors get killed in game 4 when suddenly I felt a lump develop in my left ear. It was the middle of the 2nd half of the game. I was fine in the first half of the game and then suddenly I wasn't. Throughout the evening, my ear inflammation exploded despite all of my homeopathic and naturopathic attempts. By mid-afternoon of the following day, my ear was flaming red and so painful I could barely think of anything else. Even the doctor said, "Wow, that looks really painful" as she prescribed antibiotic ear drops. I am recovering slowly, but grateful to be trending in the right direction. There is nothing like sudden illness to wake you up to the power of health, and nothing like the speed and ferocity of a bacterial infection to make you bow down to the miracle and fragility of antibiotics.

My mother wasn’t an expert on nutrition, but she was often spot-on. For instance, her commitment to eating salad. As she saw it, raw vegetables provide "roughage," which helps to keep you regular. While on the mark for her time, my mother’s wisdom has been left behind by current research which shows that the advantages of consuming fiber spiral far beyond your digestive tract.

Choose Your Adrenalized Life: 5 Steps to Conquer Burnout

Many of my coaching clients lack energy and motivation because they are overworked and overwhelmed. This is burnout.

These clients say things like, "I can’t figure out what I want anymore."

My goal was to move them from this point to feeling adrenalized and excited about life. "Adrenalized" living is about feeling fulfilled, motivated, and confident. It’s a reminder that you have the choice to live the way you want. In every situation you can choose your adrenalized life.

5 Ways to Feed Your Hungry Heart, Instead of Stuffing Your Belly

Do you find yourself feeling empty despite all the cookies, cakes, and fun of life?

Maybe you feel like a failure because baking cookies with the kids is annoying, shopping leads to debt guilt, and shame from that work party due to things said after one too many mimosas. The things that break up our day-to-day life that are meant to bring us fun, often bring their share of downsides with them.

In Vitro Fertilization: Overcoming Relationship Challenges on the Path to Motherhood

Becoming a parent is supposed to be an instinctive and natural process, a rite of passage for every woman willing to take that path, but that was not the path that I was destined to take.

There was so much I took for granted when my husband Marty and I first decided to start a family using In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). For starters, I just assumed that my body was in tip-top condition and that I would be a wonderful candidate for IVF.
