Silvan Ridge Winery is like a slice of Alsace, France, but it’s just 12 miles from downtown Eugene, Oregon. Bordered on one side by alpine forest and commanding views of grape vines and rolling hills on the other, it’s no wonder so many couples choose to say “I do” at Silvan Ridge.
The patio and expansive manicured grounds are a perfect spot for a picnic, complete with fresh fruit from one of the farm stands passed along the way—a magical drive that winds through the iconic Coyote Creek Covered Bridge, pastures, and miles of vineyards.
The tasting room with gift shop is reminiscent of a Frances Mayes book with cobblestone floors, commanding arched wooden doors that lead to the cellar, and rich colors. The atmosphere is elegant, but also relaxed—a common thread throughout the Willamette valley.
Silvan Ridge Winery not only has the reputation for memorable wines at attractive price points, but is known for its lively events—banquets, outdoor movies, live music—and on Friday nights, revelers can enjoy their wine with wood-fired pizzas.
The winery is owned by Elizabeth Chambers, a longtime contributor to the community, business, and philanthropic ideals of Eugene. Its winemaker, Jonathon Oberlander, traded a stable future in sales to pursue a Master’s degree in enology from UC Davis. After a seven-year tenure with Bernardus Winery in Monterey, one thing became clear: the aromas, flavors, and elegance of cool climate grape growing was his thing, making him an ideal candidate for Silvan Ridge, where he is committed to working closely with small growers.
The modernized production facility produces approximately 25,000 cases of wine including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, early Muscat (which has graced the dining table of the White House), Viognier, Syrah, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, and Malbec. The result: old-world sensibility and new world wines with brevity and distinctive Oregon terroir.
