You are now married. Congratulations! The wedding went off without a hitch and the honeymoon stage is in full swing. What happens, though, when all the fun is over and real life sets in? Before you know it, the line between your money and your partner’s money becomes murky. What were once your expenses are no longer just yours. What used to be your partner’s financial problems are no longer just his or hers. You have agreed to a lifelong commitment to one another—that includes your financial ups and downs. Yes, you made a commitment to be faithful and loyal in sickness and in health, good times or bad, and in sadness and in joy.

Are there useful moral lessons in the latest Barr vs. ABC or Trump vs. the world Tweets?

The news cycle is often rife with controversy involving public figures. And sometimes a fall from grace—from Hollywood to politics, the corporate boardroom, etc.—brings closer examination of the root causes. And, I for one, think such events and social media skirmishes reflect a lack of ethics that plague many levels of American society; but that they also provide an opportunity to strengthen our own moral pathway.

Anyone in a loving relationship can probably list three to five irritating behaviors of his or her partner without skipping a beat. For example, she leaves coffee mugs all over the house, or he wears the same socks for days in a row. Grrr!

Research shows that such minor but annoying behaviors become more irksome over time in loving relationships (read more about the study here). And because they do get worse, they have the potential to drive a wedge between two people if not discussed openly.
