Anaba (anna-ba) Wines, named for the anabatic winds that soar through its vineyards, creates elegant, classic wines borne by the wind. The 16-acre Sonoma, CA, estate sits in the western part of the Carneros appellation where cool Pacific breezes flow up its gently sloping vineyards—slowing down the ripening process and allowing the grapes to develop robust flavors and distinctive varietal characteristics.

Founders John and Kathleen Sweazey planned to start a winery and vineyard for decades before they started Anaba Wines.

The wineries are just five miles on average from the ocean, so the prevailing marine conditions are very pronounced, giving the fruit a lot of time to develop rich, full flavors while maintaining structure, complexity, and balance. I have a unique opportunity to work with grapes from two distinct terroirs within this region: Ancient Peaks’ Margarita Vineyard, at the northernmost border where it’s warmer, and Sinor-LaVallee’s Bassi Ranch Vineyard, just 1.2 miles from Avila Beach.
