The Sanger Family Welcomes New Members

Sanger Family of Wines invites guests to fully savor the Mediterranean lifestyle as they discover three distinctive wine brands, all born on California’s Central Coast. In late 2013, Bill and Jan Sanger, proprietors of Marianello, welcomed Consilience and Tre Anelli into the Sanger Family of Wines—creating an exciting portfolio inspired by the wines of Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. The releases from all three labels are under the direction of Winemaker Brett Escalera.

Everyone’s a Friend at Cairdean Estate

The Old Scottish saying, "What's meant to happen will happen" rings very true at Cairdean Estate. When Stacia and Edwin Williams first moved to the Napa Valley and bought their first 50-acre parcel of land in St. Helena in 2010, they intended to plant vineyards, make a little of their own wine, and sell the rest of the grapes. Shortly after closing on the 50-acre parcel, they went into escrow on a seven-acre commercial parcel next door. Stacia and Edwin instantly recognized this amazing opportunity to create a true winery destination unlike any other in the Napa Valley, and bought the land.

Matthews Winery: Strict Standards for Exceptional Wines

Diane and Cliff Otis have a passion for excellence and great wine, which is evident in their two labels: Matthews and Tenor. Matthews Winery was long considered a flagship brand in Washington’s booming wine industry when the Otis family took over in 2008. With the goal of taking the brand to the next level, Cliff solidified their grape sources with the state’s finest vineyards and turned the winemaking reins over to Aryn Morell, who had worked for some of Napa Valley’s most prestigious wineries. The results have been stunning. Matthews’ wines are well-balanced and age-worthy wines from the classic Bordeaux varietals. The Claret is the flagship wine and consistently displays refinement and elegance.

Marriage Minutes: Danger May Lurk for Couples Who Splurge On Wedding Ring and Ceremony

A Bling Ring Might Hint At Future Divorce

Weddings are a business, and that business of big weddings and shiny rings might be hurting your marriage. Two economics professors at Emory University in Atlanta surveyed 3,151 individuals in the U.S. who, at some point, had been married and found that there's an inverse relationship between the amount a couple had spent on their engagement ring and wedding ceremony, and the duration of their marriage.

Tara Bella: A Sparkling Jewel of Sonoma

Savvy Cabernet Sauvignon lovers planning a tour of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley always put Tara Bella Winery on their lists. This little jewel totals only six acres, but it produces some of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignons. The proof is in the Gold medals. Nearly every vintage has produced at least one.

The winery is owned by husband and wife team Kevin and Wendy Morrow, who met and fell in love more than 29 years ago while working in the wine industry. Together, they created a small private label, TwoMorrows, which has received many Golds and a Sweepstakes medal.
