Tara Bella: A Sparkling Jewel of Sonoma

Savvy Cabernet Sauvignon lovers planning a tour of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley always put Tara Bella Winery on their lists. This little jewel totals only six acres, but it produces some of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignons. The proof is in the Gold medals. Nearly every vintage has produced at least one.

The winery is owned by husband and wife team Kevin and Wendy Morrow, who met and fell in love more than 29 years ago while working in the wine industry. Together, they created a small private label, TwoMorrows, which has received many Golds and a Sweepstakes medal.

Family Roots Run Deep at Ancient Oak Cellars

The story of Ancient Oak Cellars is about families working together. It begins on Siebert Ranch in the Russian River Valley, where Ken Moholt and Siebert’s grandfather, Henry Siebert, started planting grapevines about 20 years ago. When Ken and his wife Melissa acquired the land, they decided that instead of selling the grapes, they would farm the vineyard and make their own wine. In 2006, they founded their winery with a few hundred cases of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir made from Siebert Ranch grapes.

Trione Vineyards & Winery: A Family Affair

As a tribute to the distinctive grapes of the Alexander and Russian River Valleys, the Trione family founded Trione Vineyards & Winery and started making California wines of its own. Brothers Mark and Victor Trione have farmed and managed some of Sonoma County’s finest premium wine vineyards for more than 35 years. When the family decided to start its own portfolio, Mark’s daughter, Denise, stepped up to help. The first vintage was released to rave reviews and a flurry of medals followed.

Take Your Senses On a Date at Chalk Hill

For more than four decades, the elegant, world-class wines of Chalk Hill have provided a benchmark for Sonoma County, California. The exceptionally beautiful estate is carved into the hills atop the Russian River Valley, just over the ridge from Alexander Valley, and provides a compelling tapestry of soil types, sun exposure, and microclimates that yield wines of exceptional note.

Led by Winemaker Lisa Bishop Forbes, the winemaking team at Chalk Hill practices a light-handed, noninvasive philosophy to emulate the essence of the vineyard in each bottle of wine. This delicate touch yields vintage after vintage of acclaimed Burgundian-style Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Semillon, along with a luscious red blend, Estate Red.
