A recent report from the medical journal JAMA Neurology highlights the fact that women represent nearly two-thirds of all elder care and says, "the best long-term care insurance in this country is a conscientious daughter." That may be good news for older Americans who are lucky to have an adult child caring for them, but could spell bad news for their daughters. "Daughter care," as some have coined it, can be risky business for a woman.

I have noticed that more and more businesses keep a small bowl of candy in reception areas and on countertops. They are practically becoming part of the décor. The other day, while waiting for my hairstylist, a woman marched over to the obligatory bowl of candy, snatched up a fistful of candy and announced, "I need some sugar!" She was not a diabetic in distress; she was not faint from not eating. She had an emotional need for not just one piece of candy—but a fistful.

It all started with a leak under my refrigerator. Then it became clear that the entire wood floor needed replacing. After my contractor arrived it was agreed that that the cabinets would look even worse than they did next to a new floor, so that was going to be my part in the kitchen rehab. Before long, the kitchen was gutted and I am working alongside my contractor sanding and refinishing. What makes guys who can fix things so sexy? Contractors have always been one of my weak points. I can’t help but fall for guys who can turn my ideas into reality so easily. It seems like the power tools are part of their hands.

While the workplace can be a seething cauldron of stress for both genders, women tend to experience the following work-related stress symptoms like, short-term memory loss, lack of clarity, suppressed anger, fatigue and weight gain. A Wall Street Journal article, "Office Stress: His Versus Hers" by Lauren Weber and Sue Shellenbarger asserts that women suffer more stress than their male counterparts at work. Keep in mind that women don’t compartmentalize the way men do. They bring their stress home with them and this stress inevitably seeps into their marriage.

Today, more than ever before, there is an unmistakable drive towards educating us in the fine art and science of lovemaking. After decades of underestimating the power of female sexuality, the "I Am Woman Hear Me Roar" anthem of the '60s and '70s has unleashed, for the most part, a brand of woman confident in her sexuality and far more knowledgeable about what she wants. This has not come without some effort, as we have all been exposed to the countless seminars, books and articles (present company included), which are designed to help us rev up our sex lives.

As women have taken on greater leadership roles in the business world, it’s paid off for both them and business.

A study by the Peterson Institute for International Economics found that firms with women in the C-suite were more profitable. Meanwhile, the number of women-owned businesses grew 45 percent from 2007 to 2016 compared to just a 9 percent growth in the number of businesses overall.

Marriage has been linked to health benefits, especially happy marriage, but when it comes to developing or controlling type 2 diabetes, marriage quality seems to have opposite effects on men and women, according to a U.S. study.

For women, a happier marriage meant lower risk of developing diabetes over a five-year period, but for men, declining marriage quality was tied to lower risk of diabetes and better control of the condition for those who had it, researchers found.
