A former model uses tales of sex, drugs and rock and roll in a book hitting stores on Monday to introduce the healing power of yoga sequences and demonstrate how the ancient practice of breath and meditation can fortify the mind as well as the body.

In "Yoga for Life: A Journey to Peace and Freedom," Colleen Saidman Yee, a former fashion model turned yoga teacher, recounts how yoga helped her battle a heroin habit, epilepsy and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after she was injured in a car accident when she was 15 years old.

Notable: Esther Boykin is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, wife and mother. She has been working as a private practitioner in Northern Virginia for roughly a decade. Through her work Boykin recognized that love requires the couple's attention—and it doesn't have to feel like you're working at it—which is why she wrote her first book, The Date Deck, a collection of relationship repairs disguised as romance, passion, and play.

The Duvaliers, who had seven children between them when they remarried—four were Sara’s and three were Cliff’s—were in the fourth year of their new marriage when I interviewed them. It was a second marriage following divorce for both of them. During our first interview, I asked Sara to complete the following sentence:

?How frequent are affairs? It depends on how you define affairs, who you ask, and how they interpret the numbers. Among experts, there is no consensus on this issue. One of the most widely acknowledged statistics is this: about 1.5 percent of people will have an affair for each year of marriage. Not so bad, you might think. But that’s only per year. In other words, after ten years the rates go up to 15 percent, and after twenty years, 30 percent of married people have had an affair.

Over the years, I’ve always enjoyed collecting beautiful antique books. My first acquisition was a 1937 edition of Margaret Mitchells', Gone With the Wind, although its first printing was in 1936, fiddle dee dee and la di da! I’ll think about that tomorrow. It is a prized possession. Books are meant for reading, but they also can be quite decorative and provide visual interest in your home.

Bookshelves, bookcases, mantels, hutches, side tables, coffee tables and tops of dressers and cabinets are all appropriate places for displaying wonderful books. Placement will, of course, always be determined by their size and shape.
